Co-Lin Career, Technical and Workforce honors area businesses and industries

Copiah-Lincoln Community College Career, Technical and Workforce Education Division recognized three businesses and industries for their service and partnership at the Business and Industry Appreciation Breakfast held at The Thames Center on the college’s Wesson Campus. The annual appreciation event is an opportunity to honor district businesses or organizations that have provided exceptional support for Co-Lin students and programs.

 

President’s Award: Simpson General Hospital of Mendenhall, MS

Simpson General has partnered with both the college’s Career-Technical Division and Workforce Education Division. On the Workforce side, they utilize Co-Lin Workforce staff to provide their in-house training. Simpson General also serves as a clinical site for Workforce’s Emergency Medical Technician program at the Simpson County Center. For Career-Tech, they provide LPN students with approximately 150 hours of clinical training during their second semester, offering excellent hands-on learning in labs, emergency room, and surgical care. They also allow students to complete the 45 transition hours needed prior to graduation under the direction of a licensed nurse at their facility. Many of these students find employment opportunities with them after graduation.

 

Career-Tech Special Recognition: S&S Dragline Services of Brookhaven, MS

Ewing Sandifer of S&S has been a long-time supporter of the college in a variety of ways. Over the years, they have hauled equipment to various locations, donated equipment and labor for campus projects, and donated countless supplies when needed. Sandifer and S&S have been faithful supporters of the college for over 46 years.

 

Workforce Special Recognition: APTIV of Brookhaven, MS

APTIV has a strong commitment to employee training and utilizes Co-Lin Workforce staff for training on anything from powered industrial trucks to workplace violence. Recently, APTIV began implementing the ACT Work Keys Assessment to find skilled employees for their Metrology Department. Using the assessment has allowed APTIV to find the right applicants for the right job.
