A structural fitter fabricates, fits, and installs steel or other metal components for ships, buildings, or any other assembled machines or structures. Recently, the demand for Structural Fitters has increased in the shipbuilding and the oil/gas industry. This program is designed to teach students introductory craft skills such as reading blueprints, tape measuring (metric and standard), basic math, and working with tools (jacks, pry bars, hammers saws, welding equipment, and torches). Hands-on learning will focus on burning, cutting, washing, tack welding, metal arc welding, and flux core. Watch the video at this link for more information.
Upon successful completion, the student will receive their NCCER CONTREN Certification in Core and Maritime Structural Fitter Level 1.
