Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is a vital member of the healthcare team. He or she works alongside doctors and nurses to obtain laboratory specimens, assist with minor procedures, perform electrocardiograms, provide patient education, administer injections, and perform office administration functions.

Class topics include medical terminology, basic pharmacology, nutrition, psychology, anatomy and physiology, clinical patient care, infection control, testing and laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, patient care coordination and education, administrative assistant skills, medical law, and ethics. Students must attend classroom theory, lab, and clinical rotations.
