Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) work as part of a team to render care to the sick or injured in emergency settings. EMTs work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, industries, and ambulances. People’s lives often depend on their quick reaction and competent care.
This certificate program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform basic emergency care and transport. Successful completion of course requirements allows students to test for Emergency Medical Technician through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Co-Lin Workforce Education offers both Basic and Advanced levels of EMT training to meet the needs of Mississippi’s emergency medical services system. The Basic EMT program introduces foundational life-saving skills, while the Advanced EMT (AEMT) program prepares individuals for a higher scope of practice including IV therapy, airway management, and medication administration. In Mississippi, EMTs must complete a state-approved training program and pass the National Registry exam at their designated level to become licensed. This tiered training approach allows students to enter the workforce quickly and advance their careers with additional certification and experience.
